As an online-only journal, Dermatology Practical & Conceptual offers authors the opportunity to publish large numbers of illustrations, videos, and large data sets.

All research articles published in Dermatology Practical & Conceptual are freely and permanently accessible online (open access policy).

The validity of the content of Dermatology Practical & Conceptual is guaranteed by a stringent peer review process for submitted manuscripts as noted in the instructions for authors.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the journal will be initially reviewed by the editorial staff and will then be sent to at least two external referees. The author may suggest reviewers for the manuscript. Reviewers will pay particular attention to novelty, clarity, scientific accuracy, relevance, and importance of the manuscript, as well as to the quality of illustrations. Dermatology Practical & Conceptual conducts anonymous and blinded peer reviews. First decisions upon acceptance of manuscripts will by made by the Section Editors based on the recommendation of the reviewers. First decisions usually will be made within 3-5 weeks but longer delays may occur. Four decisions are possible: (1) accept, (2) minor revisions, (3) major revisions, and (4) decline. If there is major disagreement between 2 reviewers, a third reviewer is asked to assess the manuscript under consideration as well as the reviews of the other 2 referees. It is the policy of the journal to offer fast and fair reviews.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
